Abstract

Tanjung Beach is one of the tourist attractions in Natuna Regency which has abundant potential for attraction including the beauty of the beach, the suitability and carrying capacity of the area for various tourism activities, marine fisheries, regional culinary specialties, local arts, as well as the activities and wisdom of the local community. In addition to its potential, Tanjung Beach has a high risk of environmental damage such as abrasion due to the effects of the east monsoon and erosion due to the behavior of local people who build buildings along the shoreline, as well as the unavailability of adequate tourism support facilities. Seeing this, this study aims to identify the condition of the area and compile an evaluation concept for the arrangement of the Tanjung Beach tourist area in order to increase tourist attractiveness, natural preservation and welfare of the people around the area. This research was conducted from August to October 2022. This study used a survey method with field observations and interviews. The samples used were 94 residents, 100 tourists and 30 policy makers. This research is complemented by the collection of primary and secondary data which are analyzed descriptively and spatially to determine the concept of evaluating the area arrangement. The results of this study indicate that based on the existing analysis and respondents' perceptions, Tanjung Beach tourism needs to get an evaluation of the proper area arrangement. The evaluation concept is carried out by planning the development of the area and improving infrastructure such as parking lots, toilets/changing rooms, houses of worship, entrance gates, coast guard posts, parks, arrangement of trade stalls, and coastal protection buildings. In the future, it is hoped that the concept of structuring the Tanjung Beach area can be directed as a sustainable tourism area that is supported by the natural potential and local wisdom of the local community.
